Taking off, she looks straight ahead into nothingness. The itinerary has been carefully laid out. What´s most important is choosing routes where nobody else has flown. The risks are higher, yet it multiplies the chances to discover something new. With her in the cockpit is a careful selection of sketches, samples of fabrics, the radiotelephony spelling alphabet and a polka dot dress, which must not be worn unless expedition is judged to be a success. She is gone for weeks on end, living among people who resemble herself, though they aren´t at all related. With the same curiosity about the future, they make things as durable as possible. When she returns, the cargo space is loaded not only with garments, but also, tucked in here and there, are the wondrous tales of extra yarn. Liberty purses, and the ability of Harris Tweed to shake off water like an animal after the rainfall. Summer has turned into autumn. She lands, slips into her polka dot dress, and steps onto the ground.
Hon lyfter med blicken riktad rakt ut i ingenting. Före start har hon noga gått igenom färdplanen. Viktigast är att välja sträckningar där ingen annan flugit förr. Hamnar hos människor som liknar henne, fast de inte alls är släkt. Med samma nyfikenhet på framtiden gör de sakerna så hållbara det överhuvudtaget är möjligt. När hon återvänder är lastutrymmet inte bara fullt av kläder utan också av instuckna berättelser om restgarner, Libertyfickpåsar och Harris Tweeds märkvärdiga förmåga att kunna skaka av sig väta som ett djur efter regnväder. Sommaren har övergått till höst. Hon landar, tar på sig sin prickiga klänning och kliver ner på marken.
